The Cult and Culture of Celebrity has morphed in the last thirty years to eclipse anyone’s deepest imagination. Today, people are simply famous for being famous. How important are celebrities to brands, what role does authenticity and transparency play or does it matter?
It was Andy Warhol who predicted in the future everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes, but it was Banksy’s recent update which predicts that in the future everyone will be anonymous for fifteen minutes which may ring more true today.
The Round Table Creative Media Group will look behind the magic and mystique that today’s omnipresent Cult of Celebrity has wrought for brands and creatives alike and dissect the mechanics that drives this phenomenon. Does having a celebrity endorse your brand equal big currency? What role does the media, brands and marketers play in feeding this phenomenon and how important is it for those of us concerned with creating our own personal brand?
